Chinchillas are prone to overheating and heat stroke, which can lead to death. They do well at temperatures between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Chinchillas cannot sweat, so fans and chiller stones ARE NOT a substitute for air conditioning. 

To protect delicate respiratory systems, chinchillas should not be exposed to tobacco or other smoke, or strong fragrances (like those produced by essential oil diffusers).

It is not safe for chinchillas to play or interact with other pets or animals. If other pets are out and about, make sure your little pal is safe in their cage!
