do chinchillas need a vet?

YES. If you have an animal, it needs a doctor - just like you! A standard veterinarian may not be able to see your chinchilla, so you'll want to look for exotic vets. 

dust baths

Dust baths should be given 2-3 times per week. Dust baths should not remain in the cage. 

what is malocclusion?

Chinchillas' teeth grow constantly. If they're not cared for properly, they can develop a condition called malocclusion, wherein their teeth grow in the wrong direction. Malocclusion can also be genetic. This disorder can be fatal, so it's important for chinchillas to have regular wellness checks!

what is bumblefoot?

Bumblefoot is a broadly-applied term for an infection in an animal's foot. This can be caused by damp environments, such as infrequently-cleaned cages.
